Mardi Gyaru

Hey Guys and Gals!

In February I went to visit New Orleans. Specifically to enjoy Mardi Gras in Gyaru style - Mardi Gyaru! I spent the weekend with Robin and was finally able to meet Coco. I was so impressed by  drive thru daiquiri shops... wow.

On our first night, Coco and I hit the streets. It was a Thursday, and we caught the last half of a parade. I'm such a dum-dum, and left my wallet at the apt! However, we didn't allow that small fact to stop us. We went to Harrah's Casino, and I managed to get through the front door. So for the rest of the night we played slot machines, ordered free drinks, and lazed in the dance club. Haha, it went really well for such a rocky start!

The next day we decided to go down Bourbon Street to experience the full festivities. It was very crowded! We saw another parade and caught beads from the floats, and then wandered down the road to find a drink shop. Cafe Du Mond was our first resting point, and we all shared some awesome beignets and coffee. We hit up a great dance club where Matt won a twerking contest and pocketed some prize money! After dancing for hours, we finally called it a night in the early morning hours.

One of the best parades was just outside of NOLA city limits. It wasn't crowded and we caught tons of beads! We all stood just in front of a really excellent daiquiri shop.

Sorry for the delay in posting this, but I really needed to go through the tons of pictures I took first. It was tons of fun, and I hope we can do it again next year. Maybe Mardi Gyaru will become a tradition?

Japan Festival 2014 Houston

Hello guys and gals! A couple of weeks ago was Japan Festival in Houston. I go just about every year, and it is very enjoyable! They have a martial arts stage, lots of booths with games and goods, food stalls, and a main stage that hosts many events.

I particularly enjoyed the comedy show (Rakugo). They also had dance, music, and fashion shows (Lolita and Cosplay). The Taiko Drums were very awesome, as always! The winner of the Cosplay Contest won a round trip to Japan - WOW.

This was Kaiya's first time, so we spent most of the day playing games and exploring.

My first "successful" attempt to suji my hair

Yay, I found Maya

My goldfish yukata is so comfortable

My lovely nails to match my yukata

Kaiya loved the pond at Japanese Gardens

Mark's first time wearing yukata.

Kaiya was very adorable in her bright yukata

I'm glad that I was able to go this year and focus on my family instead of trying to juggle a gyaru meet at the same time. On the other hand, I wish I could have seen some more gals besides Maya and Amber. There is always next year to make more memories!

Plumprimo x LaFarfa order - DreamV Rakuten PLUS size

I made my first order from the Plumprimo x LaFarfa line offered by DreamV on Rakuten. Mitsu blogged about it here, and I'm so glad that many Japanese fashion lines are starting to offer all sizes! The clothes are cute, but not omg unique remarkable styles. A lot of the items can be used for Onee or Sweet Gyaru coordinates. I started with just two items, because I want to see the how the fit and quality measure up.

I bought these chiffon shorts in black, size 5L-6L

I wanted the red, but since it was sold out, I got the black gingham in 6L

The model is from popular plus size magazine LaFarfa, and she is just too lovely!

You can find these items by going to the DreamV store here and entering "big size" in the search bar at the top (I found this was the quickest way to find all the items). I will post pictures when I get my package in, and coordinate a couple of cute Summery outfits with these pieces. Look forward to it!

Spring Trends for the PLUS sized GYARU

Spring is officially here! Spring trends is what we are looking at. I'm going to keep it simple and just show you all two of the trends I think are cute for spring. Nautical and Gingham styles.

Here are a couple of scans from my fav mag, EGG, showcasing these trends.

SO - here is the simple part. Two of the most easily accessible and trendy plus stores in my experience are Torrid and Forever21. Here are a couple of items that I found online that match these trends!

Torrid:

simple gingham button up - can be worn open, buttoned, tied

open pointelle hoodie is almost exactly like the one in the 4th EGG pic

sailor themed shirts are easier to find in more places

the high waist button ups don't always look flattering, so try to find a 2 or 3 button pant instead

Forever21:

sailor striped dresses or tops are super easy to mix with nautical accessories

another simple gingham top in red this time for more color pop

Hope this helps! Also, since these trends don't seem to be as popular in the US, consider bringing these trends into your style with accessories - like a bag or scarf.

NYC Fuchsia Lipstick and other goodies - UniVoxBox Review

Hey Gals and Guys!

I know its been a long time since we have interacted! I've been quite busy with personal things, but life has smoothed out for the time being. :D I want to share with you all the neat stuff I got for free from Influenster. They are kind of doing a college life theme with this stuff.

I pretty much love everything I got! The Acroball Pilot Pen writes so smoothly, and the colors they have are cute for spring. The Stay Matte foundation from Rimmel is wonderful for shiny skin like mine. Its really easy to throw on if you don't have time to do a full foundation routine. The RealTea Blackcurrant Raspberry little squeeze bottle is cute! I really like the flavor, but drinking too much makes it taste super duper sweet.

My favorite items were the Impress Nails from Broadway and the NYC Expert Last Color in Fuchsia. The nails were very easy to apply, and they have extra in case you screw one up (like I always do). The lipstick smells nice and feels soft, which I think both are important. I wouldn't normally go for a color this bold, but I actually like it!

If you want to get in on Influensters VoxBox program, just shoot me an email - aliciawasinger@gmail.com - and I can send you an invite. My friend, Star, invited me a year ago and I still love participating.
