New Hair - Pink and Red

Hello darlings! So sorry for the lack of blogging lately, haha that is if you've been missing me even. I took a break over the summer months to concentrate on summer school. Now that I'm back in the groove for Fall semester classes, I'm making a promise to you and myself to blog about once a week.

Now to the part you really care about, pics right?

I used Ion Color from Sally Beauty for both the red and pink. For the red I used a demi color mixed with 20 volume developer instead of 10 volume for more vibrant color and deeper penetration of my hair follicle (which should mean longer lasting). The color I used is called Light Burgundy Blonde and looks like a cherry red to me.

For the pink I used Ion Color brights. This is a semi permanent dye, so no mixing was required. The color I used was Magenta. It starts off very bright, but fades to a lovely light pastel pink. I feel like I get to enjoy the best of both worlds (light and bright) with this!

Ion is great for alternative colors and is available over the counter, aka no license required. Also, I feel this brand lasts much better than manic panic and the like. Plus, so many colors are available! :D

What I used is $5 at Sally Beauty stores and is comparable to professional line of dyes like Pravana's ChromaSilk Vivids.

Pravana ChromaSilk Vivids is $8 to $10 (that's $3 to $5 more expensive than Ion). Furthermore, you need a license to purchase this stuff in a store. Psssh... screw that right? Sallys Beauty Supply!!

Pink Lowlights - Hair Update

My dear friend Tara was kind enough to help me put pink lowlights in my hair. We tried just in the front to see how it turned out, and I am definitely planning to go all over!

This is a close up of the wonderful pink addition to my hair. I'm extremely pleased!

This should fade to a bubblegum pink. Do you like?

What were they thinking? Fashion Friday - BUTTSHIRT

What were they thinking? A peek into high fashion faux pas...

So... take a look! I can't remember where I saw this, but I made sure to save it for later. ;) Doesn't anyone else think this looks uhmmm... a bit "dumpy butt"?

I'm sorry but I laughed so hard I almost passed out! It looks like she's carrying a load... facepalm

And to think, someone somewhere bought this for (I believe) about $50. That poor soul.

Shredded Sweater - Nasty Gal

Just a quick post to show off a really neat sweater I found at nastygal.com on sale. Haha not the best choice in under shirts, but alas - this was a bit too short.

Again with my barrel waver to get wavy hair. Not so much volume this time as the humidity made my hair go quite limp. :(

I got to wear a pair of my JC snake skin wedges with this, so I felt extra fancy.

Of course all they had left in stock was a med - but it was meant to be oversized so I think it works.

Haha of course I would never wear this shirt with just a bra like the model. :D But I'll figure something out!

DIY high-low skirt

A really cute summer trend is the high low  skirt (or handkerchief skirt).

I read about it on Universal Doll and was immediately inspired to do a project! Honestly, it's so simple and easy, ANYONE can do this.

Check out a reference image of several popular gal brands doing the high low look:

So let's make our own! You will need a long maxi skirt and some scissors.

Spread the skirt out, and cut out a large triangle. You can go up as high or keep it as low as you want - you will just need to adjust the angle accordingly. I chose the keep mine a bit low and just show ankles and shoes. :)

Here is what it looks after you cut it and bring the skirt fabric back together.

And there you have it! Very simple!

I found a light weight tiered skirt at an outlet store, but you can get yours pretty much anywhere as this type of skirt is easy to come by! Try Target, or even your local thrift store. :)
