Japan Festival 2014 Houston

Hello guys and gals! A couple of weeks ago was Japan Festival in Houston. I go just about every year, and it is very enjoyable! They have a martial arts stage, lots of booths with games and goods, food stalls, and a main stage that hosts many events.

I particularly enjoyed the comedy show (Rakugo). They also had dance, music, and fashion shows (Lolita and Cosplay). The Taiko Drums were very awesome, as always! The winner of the Cosplay Contest won a round trip to Japan - WOW.

This was Kaiya's first time, so we spent most of the day playing games and exploring.

My first "successful" attempt to suji my hair

Yay, I found Maya

My goldfish yukata is so comfortable

My lovely nails to match my yukata

Kaiya loved the pond at Japanese Gardens

Mark's first time wearing yukata.

Kaiya was very adorable in her bright yukata

I'm glad that I was able to go this year and focus on my family instead of trying to juggle a gyaru meet at the same time. On the other hand, I wish I could have seen some more gals besides Maya and Amber. There is always next year to make more memories!

Japan Festival - Houston 2013

Hey gals! I'm so sorry for the late post, but I was super busy with finals and Shimmy Mob. Luckily, I had several posts already drafted and was able to publish a few without going MIA for almost a month, eheheh.

Anyway, I had a lovely time at Japan Festival with my sister, Mina. Also, I was very fortunate to meet a couple of gyaru at the festival. I know, please hold back the surprise and don't die - I met gyaru in real life and not just on the internet! Hahaha... I was trying to sneak a picture, and they actually asked me for a picture as well. Robin and Mina (another Mina ^^) were introduced to me from the Bulaklak Tribe. :D Such sweet gals! One is from New Orleans and the other Houston, so we are planning to meet up again and hang out very soon.

On to the pictures, right?!

Oh, and my bottom lashes were betraying me later in the day! How could you?!

Lots of Love,

I am very excited about JapanFest in Houston this weekend!! I just got my Yukata in the mail and have all my accessories ready to go. Last year I was unable to go, and the year before I did not wear my Kimono, as it is a vintage silk one and very heavy.

Japan Festival - Ganbarre! (IMG HVY) PART 1

Japan Festival is an annual event held in Houston's Hermann Park to showcase Japanese culture, food, music, etc. This year the weather was very nice (although I did get sun burned). There were tons of shops, food stalls, and activities! It was tons of fun, so lets what was there!

It was quite crowded near the stalls, but lots of grass room to relax!

The line for Takoyaki (octopus balls) and Taiyaki (fish shaped pastry) was super long!

Taiyaki is a sweet pastry filled with red bean paste. ^_^

Takoyaki is a fried battered seafood ball with teriyaki sauce.

In addition to the stalls, there were also blankets laid out to look through things available for purchase.

More to come, with lots and lots of pictures! ^_^
