Spring Trends for the PLUS sized GYARU

Spring is officially here! Spring trends is what we are looking at. I'm going to keep it simple and just show you all two of the trends I think are cute for spring. Nautical and Gingham styles.

Here are a couple of scans from my fav mag, EGG, showcasing these trends.

SO - here is the simple part. Two of the most easily accessible and trendy plus stores in my experience are Torrid and Forever21. Here are a couple of items that I found online that match these trends!

Torrid:

simple gingham button up - can be worn open, buttoned, tied

open pointelle hoodie is almost exactly like the one in the 4th EGG pic

sailor themed shirts are easier to find in more places

the high waist button ups don't always look flattering, so try to find a 2 or 3 button pant instead

Forever21:

sailor striped dresses or tops are super easy to mix with nautical accessories

another simple gingham top in red this time for more color pop

Hope this helps! Also, since these trends don't seem to be as popular in the US, consider bringing these trends into your style with accessories - like a bag or scarf.

My First Gyaru Vlog!

Just wanted to share a gyaru vlog I made last week. Its my first ever video, some leave anything constructive you think would help me in the future for making more videos please! I talk about some trends I think are important, what happened at the last gyaru meet, and do a quick review on some lashes and YSL candy gloss.

Fresh Spring Mint

This is all pretty much stolen from LookBook.nu ^_^

I really like the fresh Spring look of this color! Although I look pretty terrible in Mint, I still love the color especially for accessories.

BUY WHATEVER YOU WANT

I lot of people try to stay in trend and only buy what's hot now. I say, buy whatever you want. If its lovely, and you feel pretty in it, get it if you want it. Don't let a trend tie you down!

Take a look at this dress that is a $260 pr-eorder on Murua's webstore:

A fact you all know - fashion gets recycled, revamped, and reused. For example, I bought this black dress at Hot Topic 1 1/2 years ago for $35 (sadly not available anymore):

please excuse my terrible photography! :P

Shorter and two more tiers of fabric at the hip, but a great look alike and less expensive option!

SO - if you love something, be happy and enjoy it! Plus, you never know... it could be like the totally really awesome new thing next season.

Trend Watch - stripe dress

One of my favorite resources for trends and new brands and lots of fun and great things to try comes from universalldoll.com blog. Recently, she posted a mini entry about a trend she saw in several brands - the black and white border dress. I really like something like this: you can dress it up or be super casual on a lazy day. :D

You can find her entry here: http://universal-doll.com/2012/01/mini-trendwatching-border-onepiece/

I was able to find something comparable at one of my favorite stores: DOTS. This is their striped onepiece for only $20. VERY affordable - since buying trend items can add up and get pricey if you're not careful.
You can find it on their website - DOTS

Here is a similar one at OLD NAVY for only $16. Although this one seems a bit too plain for my tastes.

Here you can get ti at OLD NAVY

Fringe is IN - Affordable BAGS

From my last post, lets keep with fringe and look at bags. Again, I think fringe is tons of fun, but should be kept to accessories!

Here is a hot bag with lots and lots of fringe. ^_^ Could be so happy with this purse...

$473.00. OUCH. Available at JJ Winters.
I'd like to show you my picks for fringe bags at much more palatable prices. The last one (in black) is my fav and would go great with the Ami Club Wear fringe shoes from my last post.

$39.50 Available at PACSUN. This Volcom bag is a cutie with a feminine chain strap.

$34.99 Available at PACSUN. I really like this one - not too much fringe and very roomy!

$59.00 Available at Urban Outfitters. This one is a bit more money, but the fringe detail is different. I'm really liking the tied leather straps acting as the fringe here. :)

$39.94 Available at DSW. This one is perfect in my opinion! It can be a tote or a shoulder bag, plenty of fringe with some really cool metal detailing, and big enough to carry lots of goodies. ^_^

I really feel like these bags can work with ANY outfit. Which one do you like best?

Fringe is IN - Affordable SHOES

Fringe is hot right now! I love to see this look in bags and shoes. Very fun and playful looking! Fringe can easily be paired with the tribal/ethnic trend by matching it up with statement turquoise jewelry, feather accessories, and flow-y tunics. Now, fur leg warmers and fox tails were hot last season and have left the scene. Fringe is probably just a S/S trend. That being established, I don't think you or I should shell out, for example, $825.00 for these fabulous Vivienne Westwood heeled boots.

$825.00 Available at Zappos here. So sexy! SO out of my price range.

Here are my picks for some adorable fringe shoes. The ones from Ami Club Wear are the most affordable at $27 and the wildest (and my fav) are from Sears (of all places) for $80. :)

$43.99 Available at Jacco Fashion. So pretty in pink suede. I can see these particular boots moving to Fall possibly.

$40.95 Available at Amazon. These would look great with an ethnic/hippy coordinate. ^_^

$26.99 Available at Ami Club Wear. Very chiq and such a great price. Very in love with the platform and peep toe!

$79.20 Available at Sears. These are my favorite! Lots of fringe and really cool buckle details with small peep toe for Summer.

I like the trend, but be careful! Too much fringe and you will look like a weird trip to the early 90's, lol. Keep this trend to accessories like shoes, bags, and earrings, and avoid wearing fringe tops with fringe everything else!

TREND ALERT - Flare/Bell Bottom

Shorts and skirts will always be a staple for summer, but what about pants this season? ^_^ I'm happy to see lots of inspiration in flare leg and bell bottom style jeans!

Go with a tight hip and loose legs and pair this with a chiffon top (I'm thinking polka dots) for a sweet retro girly look. Or go ethnic or hippy with a bright or print flow-y top, big turquoise jewelry, and boots.

Here are several pictures for inspiration! 2nd pic is my fav from EGG magazine, a really cool dark denim.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE flare leg or bell bottom pants for shorts gals - it elongates and slims. Even though light wash is in right now, a darker wash will increase the effect for your figure. Be careful if you're going to "high waist-ed" route, as this can make you look poochy in the lower tummy region.

What I'm seeing is going away from the damaged denim look and is leaning towards a crisp and clean denim. Hahaha... almost makes me want to iron my jeans (totally kidding, I swear)!

What do you think about about this trend in jeans? Will we be brave enough to wear and risk suffering the heat of pants in the summer-time? I will.

Miu Miu online store and spring wishes

Miu Miu, a brand I am constantly drooling over, now has an online store to tempt you. I've always admired this brand as they carry very classy luxury items. Most of their bags wouldn't go out of style for a VERY long time. Soft supple leather, attention to detail, gleaming gold and silver hardware... Don't worry though! The prices will always bring you back down to planet Earth. You can check it out here.

Now, if money were no object (dreams) these are a few items I would snag for sure.

This gorgeous spring bag...

Fabulous Shoes....

Charming bracelet....

GO CHECK IT AND DIE A LITTLE BIT WITH UNFULFILLED JOY.

TREND UPDATE

FYI - strawbags are probably going to be in for spring and summer! (Source: Mitsu) I like this a lot because tis is an item you can find easily in the US - in stores and online. Also, there is the option to buy a plain bag and then dress it up on your own. ^_~

Above is the Yume straw bag.

Even W*C has one with the adorable Kumaten character.

Above bags are dressed in lots of bows and frills - Liz Lisa.

And lastly Cecil McBee has their own version with a simple bow and logo.

Haha, I am officially on the hunt for my own straw bag! I will be looking out at stores and online and will report back!

As a side note... I have been neglecting this blog and I am very sorry gals. :( Ready for it to get a bit personal? I have been juggling work and school, but that's not the issue. I have a surgery coming up next week that I've been getting ready for. So... Wish me luck, okay?

Oh these pants...

I love Gal because you get to experiment with your style... but sometimes I look at certain things and make a funny face. @_@

I have seen a lot of these pants (especially with the brand Marple Q) in gal mags. I have dubbed the this style - the "boy crotch pants" style.

IMO - these pants should die in a fire!!!! Why on earth would you want to wear a boy crotch on your pants? Are you using that extra space for storage?? Ugh... never mind. But there are still showing trends for this spring - leopard and flag print seem to be popular (more on that in another post).

What do you think about "boy crotch pants"? Cute? Horrible? Love or hate?

Hello Kitty at Sephora

It was only a matter of time before Hello Kitty landed a line at Sephora (remember when it was MAC?). With a mid-January debut the anticipation is too much! I remember way back when, hanging out at the local gift shop, where there was a HUGE Sanrio display and I would beg my mom to get me a Hello Kitty lip gloss to match my scented heart rings that were made out of the same plastic as the glitter jellies stinky sandals.

So yeah, not much has changed at this point besides the location (Sephora) and who is paying (me). Some of you may have been lucky enough to shop the private Beauty Insider sale this weekend, but if you’re like moi and neglected checking email until last night when the sale was over, then you only need to wait a couple weeks for the product to hit stores!
